A trucking screen looks for the license before it looks at how you describe the miles. Class A or Class B should be written out, including CDL-A or CDL-B, not only “commercial driver.” Endorsements are separate items. Hazardous materials (H), tanker (N), doubles and triples (T), passenger (P), and the combined X endorsement are not implied by a CDL. If the posting asks for one, the letter or the words “HAZMAT endorsement” need to be on the resume.
The medical card is its own line. Companies ask for a current DOT medical certificate, also called a medical examiner's certificate. A motor vehicle record, often called an MVR, is another document people leave in a folder. List it only if you can produce a current one. Years of driving should be a date range on each job, because “3+ years” is checked against those dates, not against a sentence that says you have experience.
Name the equipment you have actually run: dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, or tanker. A forklift certification and OSHA 10 show up on regional and local postings and are easy to leave in a wallet. A TWIC card belongs on the resume only if the card is yours. Do not add a Hazmat line, a doubles endorsement, or a clean MVR you cannot hand over.
This CDL resume checker is free. Paste the posting and the resume you would send. Delivery Driver is not the same title as Regional CDL Driver. A close title still has to contain the core words, such as CDL Driver. The checker shows the missing endorsements and certificates so you can add the ones you hold. It will not tell you that a carrier will hire you. We help you get hired, from start to starting.
Questions
- Does a CDL resume need every endorsement? Only the ones the posting asks for and you hold. HAZMAT, tanker, doubles, and passenger are separate from the Class A or Class B license.
- Where do the DOT medical card and MVR go? Give each one its own line if you have a current card or can produce the record. A DOT medical certificate is not the same line as the CDL.
- Is this CDL resume checker free? Yes. It compares your resume with one posting. It does not promise a driving job.
